Sponsoring Members

An Eligible Sponsor

  • Cannot be a current Board Member
  • Cannot be the selling Member
  • Cannot be related to the applicant

NOTE: A Sponsor must be whomever’s name is on the stock certificate (Either the husband or the wife, not both).

For example, if the husband’s name is on the stock certificate, then he must attend the Meet the Board for the applicant. The member’s wife is encouraged to attend the interview, but attendance is not required. If you have any question, please contact Nina S. Wager at (225) 755-4643.

Responsibilities of Sponsors

  • Sponsoring Members are responsible for obtaining an application for the Applicant and making sure the membership application package is complete. Please contact Nina S. Wager for the monthly application deadline.

A completed application package consists of:

  • Completed Membership Application
  • Applicant and Spouses signature on front cover
  • Three completed & signed Sponsor Questionnaires
  • All Sponsor’s signatures on the Sponsor Agreement Section.
  • Credit Inquiry Authorization signed and dated by the Applicant and Spouse.
  • Meet the Board Agreement (signed and dated)
  • Past/Current Club Information Form
  • A check made payable to CCLA, for the membership.

Approval Process

Once the complete package is submitted, copies of the package will be forwarded to the Membership Committee. Two of the three Committee members must approve the applicant's name for posting for the membership. Posting will consist of:

  • Applicant's Name
  • Occupation & Position
  • Sponsors

This information will be posted in the Golf Pro Shop, Tennis Pro Shop, Men's Locker Room, Ladies' Locker Room and the Golf Snack Bar for a period of 30 days. Members should use the posting period to report both favorable & unfavorable information to the Board of Directors or the General Manager.

After completion of the 30 day posting period, two of the three Sponsors will be responsible for bringing the Applicant & Spouse to a "Meet the Board" interview to be held the second to last Wednesday of each month.

Final Approval

After the completion of the 30-day posting period and the Meet the Board interview, the application for membership will then be scheduled to be voted on at the next Board of Directors meeting. A two-thirds (2/3) "yes" vote of the Board of Directors is required for approval.

NOTE: It will be the responsibility of the Sponsor to notify the Applicant of the Board's action.

If the Applicant is approved, he/she can not exceed 90 days in signing the Bill of Sale. Membership privileges will not begin until stock purchase is complete.

If a new member does not follow through with the purchase of stock within the 90-day period following approval, he/she may be required to repeat the approval process.

If a Prospective Member's application is denied, he/she may not reapply for a period of one year. After 3 denials, he/she will not be allowed to reapply.

For Applicants who are new to Baton Rouge and surrounding areas, and do not have a Sponsor, he/she may meet with the Membership Committee to request sponsorship. This may be arranged through the Membership Director's office.

If you have any questions, please contact the Membership Director, Nina S. Wager at (225) 755-4643, or by e-mail at nwager@ccofla.com
